Rummy

Classic Rummy against smart AI

Draw-and-discard Rummy for two to four players, free in your browser. Three AI difficulty levels — the hardest bots track the discard pile, estimate your hand, and avoid feeding you useful cards.

How to play Rummy

Each turn, draw from the stock or the discard pile, lay down melds — sets of three or four equal ranks, or runs of three or more consecutive same-suit cards — lay off cards onto any meld on the table, then discard. First to empty their hand wins the round, and opponents score penalty points for cards left in hand.

Match play to a target score

Play matches to 100, 250, or 500 points — when a player crosses the target, the lowest total wins. Lifetime statistics track your wins, best rounds, melds created, and streaks.

How to Play — Step by Step

  1. Set up in the gear menu: 2–5 players, bot difficulty, and the target score. With 2 players you get 10 cards, otherwise 7.
  2. Start your turn by drawing one card — from the face-down stock or the face-up discard pile.
  3. Lay down melds from your hand: sets of 3–4 equal ranks, or runs of 3+ consecutive cards in one suit (aces are low).
  4. Lay off single cards onto any meld already on the table — yours or an opponent's.
  5. End your turn by discarding one card onto the discard pile.
  6. The first player to empty their hand wins the round; everyone else adds their remaining card values as penalty points (A=1, faces=10).
  7. When someone reaches the target score, the match ends and the LOWEST total wins.

Strategy Tips

Form runs and sets early, and keep cards that connect to multiple melds. Watch the discard pile: don't throw cards an opponent can use, and pick from it only when it clearly improves your hand. Track discards to gauge how close others are to going out.
